Hi Alex. Wish you had talked to us when you started.

I started building web applications for back office etc like ERP, payroll, etc in 1998.

Once the internet was fast enough (think ADSL) we moved our servers to hosting centers. Finally we moved everything to AWS.

I own my technology stack and avoided many of your issues.

My database and language made build applications for in house and then cloud really easy.

We hardened our web servers.

We followed all the requirements of OWASP and to a lesser extent ISO.

We have passed the ATO requirements for security and have a certified STP product.

GDPR (we have to comply for a UK software developer ) is an application level requirement.

We haven't changed technology in 40 years and our basic data models still outperform our competition today.

All those lessons. And so unnecessary.

I'm still in the engine room and still loving it.

But then I am tech nerd.
